My favorite fly to use: it’s a topwater walk-the-dog fly that cuts sharply side to side with the classic “spook” action that drives fish wild. An excellent choice for any species that feeds on baitfish on the surface.
Each one is tied on a 180lb stainless shark-wire shank I make by hand, with a wide-gap Gamakatsu hook. Multiple foam pieces get fused with adhesives as the fly is tied, then each body is airbrushed, sealed, and rotary-coated for a smooth, flexible, strong finish.
