Hook Up Gurgler Shrimp

Topwater shrimp that rides hook-point up

Tossing topwater gurglers is one of the most fun ways to catch redfish — but a typical gurgler’s hook point rides down and snags every blade of seagrass. After much trial and error, this shrimp rides hook-point up while staying light and easy to cast.

The foam bodies are punched with a custom die so each fly is exactly the same, primed, airbrushed, and coated in e6000 after tying. The antennae thread through the body and out the nose just like a real shrimp. Short strips get it popping; the flat face even lets it cut sideways and walk the dog.
